The value I get out of it is so much higher than anything else; a 12-hour viewing experience that I revisit at least every 4-5 months, plus countless hours of additional features of all kinds that make the films even more enjoyable. The reason for the fan edit of the hobbit is to skip around the unnecessary, non-book related filler that took up massive chunks of the movies. The Lord of the rings trilogy deserves to be watched in its entirety. Getting rid of enough to warrant a fan edit would result in an incomplete story that would be disingenuous to the epic scale and
